Zoey is a female long-haired chihuahua mix, about 8 years old and 10 pounds, who was surrendered to CARES after her owner moved out-of-state. Now this special little adorable lady is looking for her new forever family!
Zoey will need a patient, calm and quiet home, with no children. We feel she may do best in a home where she is the only pet and is the center of attention, although she does get along fine with many other dogs, so might love having the right canine sibling to keep her company. She is VERY sweet, loving, and affectionate when she is comfortable and in the right setting, and loves to snuggle in your lap and give kisses. However, she can be reactive and defensive of her spaces (e.g., her kennel, bed, etc.), especially when she is frightened or with new people. Her previous family was working diligently with her on her anxiety and protectiveness, and she has also made great progress just in the short time she's been here, so will need someone (preferably experienced) who can keep working with her and give her the love and attention she deserves.
Zoey does fantastic on-leash and is a great walker, and loves being outside. She likes to 'dance' when she gets excited (e.g., for treats or walks), and can be adorably vocal when she feels she's being ignored. She is housebroken and does well in her kennel at night. She is a little bit older, but still has lots of healthy spunk and energy, so will need plenty of daily exercise, play time, and affection.
We've all fallen in love with Zoey here, and this special girl will make a great and loving addition to the right family. So if you're looking to open your heart to an older, adorable, cutie of a furbaby that's a little rough around the edges, stop into CARES or call about meeting Zoey today!
Zoey is spayed, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her vaccinations.
