C.A.R.E.S. is a small non-profit community organization. As a no-kill shelter, we dedicate extra time to work with each animal and help hundreds of animals per year, find their forever homes. Your donations, whether one-time or monthly, allow us to focus less on fundraising and more on finding homes for these animals. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a difference and is greatly appreciated. If you’re interested in supporting us in other ways, please continue reading below.
Support C.A.R.E.S. in Other Meaningful Ways
C.A.R.E.S. relies on the donated time of volunteers (Thanks to an incredible community response, we are currently fully staffed with volunteers and will share updates when openings return. Visit our Volunteer page for more information), and on the material generosity of local citizens and businesses to help keep our shelter going and our animals happy and healthy. Nearly ALL of our pet food, cleaning supplies, equipment, etc. come from direct donations or are purchased with donated funds, so we really couldn’t do it without you! We accept donations anytime during business hours.

If you’d like to donate at the shelter directly, we are taking (open bags are OK): Dog & Cat food, Cat litter, and towels, medical items (needles, flea treatment, more), or please contact the shelter if your item is not listed here. Please no bedding, sheets or pet beds, cat trees, or balls at this time.

Many employees can support Burien CARES through payroll deduction at work. Washington State employees and others may give through the Combined Fund Drive (CFD), a secure and convenient way to donate directly from your paycheck.

Remember, you can support Burien C.A.R.E.S. simply by being a responsible pet owner! Ensure your pet has a valid city license (available through us for Burien, Federal Way, and Des Moines) and please consider getting them spayed or neutered if you haven’t already.
