Dante is a male shepherd mix, about 5 years old and 85 lbs, who came to CARES as a stray. Nobody ever claimed this big handsome sweet boy, so now he's up for adoption and can't wait to meet his new people!
Please ignore Dante's 'resting sad face'--this is one of the friendliest, gentlest, happiest pups we'ever ever had in the shelter! He loves pretty much everyone he meets immediately. He is very outgoing, very patient, with an all-around calm, wise, quiet, laid back temperament. He is very responsive and does great with basic commands--sit, stay, shake, lay down, etc. He is housebroken and does great on-leash.
Although he's no longer a puppy, Dante still has tons of happy healthy energy, and LOVES his walks and play times. He is very treat-motivated, and especially loves treats he can lay on his bed with and chew for a while--bones, pig ears, etc. He has done well with some of the dogs here, but been a little reactive with others, so a meet-and-greet here at the shelter would be a good idea for any potential new canine siblings. He does not do well with cats.
Dante checked out fine at our vet, with the exception of an untreated skin condition, which he has been receiving treatment for here. It looks like it's likely just a yeast infection and/or possible food allergy, and his fur has been growing back very fast since we started treatment.
All in all, Dante is an amazing, loving, gentle, smart, happy-go-lucky dude who will make a great addition to the right family--so stop into CARES or call about meeting him today!
Dante's adoption fee is $150. He is neutered, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped, and up-to-date on his shots.
