How You Can Help
Donations
As a small non-profit community organization, C.A.R.E.S. relies on the donated time of volunteers (see our Volunteer page), and on the material generosity of local citizens and businesses to help keep our shelter ship-shape and our animals happy and healthy. Nearly ALL of our pet food, cleaning supplies, equipment, etc. come from direct donations or are purchased with donated funds, so we really couldn't do it without you!

You can make donations to C.A.R.E.S. in a number of different ways, including:
Material Donations
Currently we are only taking items off our Chewy list and Amazon list or if you’d like to donate at the shelter directly, we are taking cat food, dog food, toys and cat litter. Please no bedding, sheets or pet beds at this time.
Monetary Donations

Volunteer

Other -- Programs like Fred Meyer Community Rewards, and Amazon Smile, send a percentage-based monetary donation to your selected non-profit. If you're a Fred Meyer or Amazon customer, sign up today and support C.A.R.E.S. every time you make a purchase!

Sign up for a Fred Meyer online account if you haven't already (you'll need your Fred Meyer Rewards Card number).
Log into your account, and scroll to the bottom where it says 'Community Rewards.' Click 'Enroll.'
C.A.R.E.S. is listed by our full name, 'Community Animal Resource & Education Society.' You can just search 'Community Animal.'
Select 'Community Animal Resource & Education Society' and click 'Enroll.' You're done!

And remember--you can always help C.A.R.E.S. and the entire Burien community just by being a responsible pet owner! Make sure your pet has a valid city license (and wears it), and if you haven't already, get them spayed/neutered. Contact C.A.R.E.S. for resources on low-cost or free spay & neutering, or any questions you have about other ways you can help.
